We’re looking to hire an experienced Associate to source, diligence and manage investments for a preeminent boutique consumer venture capital and growth equity firm located in New York City. This is our firm’s initial Associate hire reporting directly to the founding Partners and working primarily on our newest fund, Silas Capital II, which had its final close in February at it’s hard cap of $150 million.
Who We Are:
Silas Capital is a consumer growth equity and venture capital firm focused on helping entrepreneurs build the next generation of brands. We are one of the few experienced firms specializing in profitable "emerging" growth stage consumer businesses typically between $5 and $50+ million in revenue at investment entry point. Additionally, we invest up to ~10% of our capital into seed and early-stage brands, as well as the enabling technologies that support them, through our separate venture stage funds (Silas Ventures). Our growth investments range from $3 to $20+ million for emerging growth stage companies and up to $500k for seed and early-stage venture. Our firm is led by three experienced partners with a long track record of success as former entrepreneurs and investors. We recently held the first close on Silas Capital Partners II, our newest growth stage fund.
The Role:
- Source, assess, and negotiate investments in high-growth consumer brands
- Already possess, and wish to further establish, domain expertise within consumer sectors such as: Beauty & Personal Care, Digital Consumer Services, Health & Wellness, Pet, Retail, Specialty Apparel, Home, and Food & Beverage
- Conduct due diligence on deals from sourcing through close, including extensive transaction modeling and analysis. Work closely with portfolio companies to support business development and operational efforts
- The firm works in hybrid environment with a Midtown office. This role may split time from a home office with daily zoom meetings and in person meetings with companies, founders and management at their offices, our office, or other trade events.
About You:
- 3 to 4 years of recent consumer goods / services investment experience required (venture capital, growth equity, private equity, and/or consumer investment banking)
- Outgoing and personable - we're looking for confident and respected individuals with strong interpersonal skills
- Interested in learning the ins-and-outs of growth equity by working directly with experienced partners in a small team environment
- Existing strong network of relationships in the early, mid, and late stage privately held consumer company space
- Prior experience in transaction execution and a solid track record in the branded consumer category
- Willing to roll up your sleeves and do both mundane and highly analytical work
- Proficiency in both PowerPoint, Excel, Keynote or other relevant desktop solutions
