Worklife Studios, nestled in the heart of Silver Lake, Los Angeles, is seeking a creative and organized Design and Events Intern to support our community engagement initiatives, art gallery events, and gallery operations. This role offers a fantastic opportunity to blend design skills with event planning experience in a dynamic art environment.
Responsibilities:
Gallery operations:
- Support the installation and deinstallation of exhibitions in the gallery space.
- Assist with the coordination of artwork deliveries, handling, and display.
- Provide exceptional customer service by assisting visitors with inquiries about exhibited artwork and facilitating sales transactions.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the gallery space to ensure a welcoming environment for visitors.
Event Support:
- Assist in planning and executing gallery events, including openings, artist talks, workshops, and other special programs.
- Coordinate logistics such as event setup, signage, refreshments, and guest registration.
- Contribute creative ideas to enhance the overall experience for event attendees and participants.
- Assist in organizing and promoting community events hosted by Worklife Studios.
- Engage with local residents, artists, and organizations to foster relationships and expand our community outreach.
Design & Administrative Tasks:
- Proficiency in Canva and/or Adobe Photoshop for creating graphics and promotional materials.
- Assist with social media management and content creation to promote studio activities and engage with our online community.
- Maintain and update Peerspace and Artsy platforms.
- Help maintain inventory of gallery supplies and promotional materials.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a college degree program in art, arts administration, museum studies, or a related field.
- Passion for contemporary art and a strong interest in community engagement.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, creative environment.
- Proficiency in Google Office Suite and familiarity with social media platforms.
- Previous experience in event planning, customer service, or gallery operations is a plus.
This is a paid internship opportunity with flexible hours (approximately 10-20 hours per week) designed to provide valuable experience and networking opportunities in the arts. Compensation for this role is $18/hour.
Interns will have the chance to work closely with our team and gain insight into various aspects of running a contemporary art studio and gallery.
