Our founding team has both deep investment (Kleiner Perkins) and operational (Tesla, DJI, Intel, BMW) experience. We are now excited to expand our team with a technical associate to begin the next stage of growth of our firm.
POSITION: Full-time Associate (Start Date: Fall 2023)
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: The associate will support our firm in the areas of identifying new investment opportunities, supporting our existing portfolio with partnerships, hiring, and fundraising, and supporting fund operations and administration.
New Investment Scouting and Sourcing:
● Process and expand our investment pipeline and improve our scouting and sourcing methodologies.
● Drive diligence process for potential new investments in areas including technical feasibility, product roadmap, market fit, intellectual property, finances, operations, and founder references.
● Network with founders and other venture capital firms to expand the investment pipeline. ● Stay ahead of technology trends, industry news, and new investment opportunities through research and connections to university research labs, venture accelerators, and repeat entrepreneurs.
Support Existing Portfolio:
● Responsibilities may include supporting the Catapult GPs and Portfolio Founders in the areas of fundraising, product and roadmap development, runway planning, operational plan development, hiring, strategic partnerships, and marketing.
● Implement a quarterly tracking system for existing portfolio companies which includes key performance and financial metrics as well as noteworthy progress and challenges.
Supporting Fund Operations:
● Maintain specific IT tools, spreadsheets, and databases used by the firm for sourcing, deal execution, portfolio tracking, marketing and limited partner reporting. ● Plan and organize events for both founders and limited partners. For example, help plan Catapult’s yearly event showcasing fund progress to Limited Partners.
● Produce quarterly firm marketing reports, blog posts, Limited Partner newsletters, and thesis-driven research.
OFFICE LOCATION: Los Altos, California. Full-time employees will be expected to work from the office.
QUALIFICATIONS: We are looking for candidates who have:
● At least two years of full-time work experience in an operational role.
● A technical background with at least a Bachelor’s degree.
● Established record as an intellectually curious ‘self-starter’ with an interest in continuous improvement and attention to detail.
● Strong organizational and communication skills, excellent analytical reasoning, and an ability to present complex ideas and information in simple persuasive form, both written and verbally, and an affinity for creating process, structure, and documentation.
● Real passion for investing, the entrepreneurial process, and deep tech. ● Professional and personal maturity that demonstrates unquestionable integrity and sound business instincts.
